MiniVAN Touch App revisa

I’ve tried 8 times to create a PW & username and none of them took. This app exhausted me. Ready to give up but my group uses it.

This is great, syncs well. Mostly easy to use. Better than paper!! Please tell me how to turn off dark mode.

This app is miraculous. Only suggestion: could the “already voted” folks either show up on the map with a color indicating they’re done or be auto dropped from that list altogether?

Seriously guys you need to fix the Next Door function. This app was sending me from street to street instead of having me go to the next closest house. It would literally send me to a house that was a three minute drive away and then I’d have to loop around and go back to a house that was next-door to a house I previously was at. It’s incredibly bad, almost like it’s trying to be as difficult as possible for the user. Is it possible to have a map feature that will plot out all the places you need to go? at least this would let the person chart their own course when canvassing in an area they’re not familiar with. Honestly, I think this feature is so bad, you should strongly consider getting rid of it until you can fix it. Not sure how this past QA.

The original pw would ‘t work and the reset page has a confirmAtion box that can’t match (and doesn’t show both password entries to help see if it is a Typo or not.

I don’t doubt that this app is fine for the canvassing organizations who choose to use it for their employees, but it is not good for the end users. It provides the bare minimum in terms of functionality (i.e. doesn’t offer routing options which could save a lot of time), but worse than that, it regularly zooms all the way out and resets the orientation when trying to zoom/scroll around the map to determine the best route on ones own. This is infuriating.

Better than 10x better than PDI.

This is a terrible app and database. DO NOT USE!! My canvassing data was completely lost for over half of the turfs that canvassed. Good thing I’m running a small campaign and I have recollection of where I’ve walked already. It would seriously be catastrophic for a larger campaign. minivan and Votbuilder are awful!!! Stay away!!

What I despise about using this app is being required to provide full access to my data. I give no apps full access but this app requires that the user give full access for full functionality. As soon as my gig is done I will be deleting it.

1) Please fix: On iOS when you want to pan or shift the map, it zooms back to several hundred miles out 2) Drained my newish phone battery fast: iphone 14 on iOS 17.6.1 from 95% to 40% in about 3hrs

This is really helpful for getting info updated in the field quickly. One note is that when a user chooses “Next HH” the option should filter to the next CLOSEST household. If there is a way to sort geographically instead of alphabetically, it’s tough to find but would be really helpful, especially for new canvassing volunteers who may be unfamiliar with their area.

There are some lists I have worked on over more than one day (weather, time constraints, etc.). I sync and save my progress after each attempt to be sure. The next time I return to the list to finish it, the previous data is not showing on the map or in the progress section. It’s as if it’s a brand new list and I have done nothing. I have made my own method of tracking by taking screen shots and taking anecdotal notes, but this is time consuming and frustrating. I want to be sure my progress is being tracked correctly.

Very good app that works well

The swipe left option to show that someone wasn’t home, or I just lit dropped works sporadically. It wants me to record voters’ answers to questions which I can’t ask if I only lit dropped. Otherwise, it works and is convenient.

There is a serious flaw with this app. Once we switch lists, all the old data is GONE from the app so that we have no idea which areas have already been canvassed. This app has the potential to be a great tool! Please fix this issue. Been canvassing since July and have had to switch to a paper map to try to keep track and not repeat areas. And we sync all the time so it’s not a sync issue.

1) would like to see all other voters in the household - often I don’t talk to the individual on my list but someone else and it would be helpful to add notes / survey responses for that individual. 2) every time I lock my phone (usually to talk to a voter), the app quits and I have to rebrowse to the individual. 3) want to be able to switch between multiple lists. I often get 2-3 lists from my campaign coordinator and they are all near each other. If I could load all three, I can chart a more efficient route. 4) speaking of routes, the “next door” feature is useless. It rarely displays in the proper order and it doesn’t take my “Not contacted” filter into account. 5) why do I have to reacknowledge the same prompts on every list. I know about canvassing safely. I know about lit drops. I know all this - please let me disable it in settings. Or have it tied to my profile so it is acknowledged once. Or once per campaign season (ie - brief reminder next year).

TL;DR don’t install and tell your nonprofit that you are volunteering for to not use the software because they’re doing everyone dirty, including charities. The company that makes this software, Bonterra Tech is behind this app, and all other software/solutions by EveryAction, NGP Van, Mobilize, Network for Good, Cyber Grants and Social Solutions. Do not use any of their software - they sell your info. As if it’s not bad enough to prey on volunteers, adding you to their database with literally no way of getting them to stop. To make matters worse, they use volunteers to harvest OUR contacts too, and your loved ones, coworkers, clients, or whoever else in your phone will also start receiving text spam from politicians that you can’t even vote for because they’re 10 states away, and other charities all asking for money. What takes the cake is when you contact them to try to get them to stop selling your info, they tell you to report the spam texts as spam. That means they are telling people to get the charities and politicians that we support blacklisted by phone carriers. You’d think that is OK as a practice until you realize they are telling people to hurt the nonprofits that pay their salaries for using their own software.

Just finished a canvass with a partner and while I can see their results, mine have disappeared! The route is now showing as incomplete, and they can’t see that I texted folks who weren’t home. I had to send screenshots so they wouldn’t double-text. Very worrisome. I hope this gets fixed in the next update, and that as many features as possible get updated to require as few taps as possible to get through. Canvassing is hard enough without a reliable app! Thank you!

The only option is to enter not at home. I thought this was a user error but the person helping me use it said that’s what you have to do to track your progress, enter not home regardless of what really happened.

I’ve been canvassing with miniVAN for a few months now, and the benefits far outweigh my complaints. Being able to see all the houses you’re going to along with your own location is so much easier than trying to follow a paper list of addresses (which I’d end up finding on my phone’s map anyway!) My only complaints are that results imputed from paper packets don’t appear on the app, and that sometimes the gps will show the icon for the address at a completely different location from where it actually is (I was walking “park ave.” and it showed some of the houses as being across the city on “park st.” and I didn’t realize the mistake until I had already driven across the city to get the rogue houses -_-). Still, better than paper!

Download the app but it a error message

When using MiniVAN and two people are doing the same region it does not sync properly. One phone will sync properly and everything on the other phone will totally disappear. This is become a significant problem and covering territory. Please look into what is going on with the app. Yes I have updated the app.

I’m a field director in NC, and I manage large groups of people for boots on the ground campaigns across the state. The platform is well designed, but often poorly executed. For example, when sending turf maps there is an option to send to multiple canvassers. We have two parallel campaigns, and they function very differently. The problem is, even when selecting our second campaign, it only ever sends the first one. This means instead of sending turf to 90+ people in groups of ten or more, we are sending it s l o w l y, one at a time. This turns a one person, few minutes task into a multiple person, half hour task, especially with how unresponsive the site can be. This is not the only broken/buggy feature on the platform, but it is one of the most egregious tine wasters: especially if someone isn’t aware it doesn’t work, and mistakenly sends turf this way, unintentionally sabotaging a day of work for the entire office.

Overall, we have found this app to be helpful and less bulky than carrying around paper lists. The biggest problem is that no matter what we do, we cannot get this app to sync with other users. After a couple hours of canvassing and refreshing the sink several times per hour, we still can’t tell where the other canvassers have been as shown in the instructional video. It did work one day out of about 200, so we know it is possible, but we have never been able to duplicate that before or since. We end up having to spend an extra 20 minutes going through our individual lists with one another and manually adding them to our own phones. Super inconvenient. The other problem with this app is that the map feature seems to be based on Apple Maps, which as everyone knows, is terrible. It rarely shows an accurate picture of where an address physically is. Google maps is much better in that regard.

Very confusing to use. If you’re a small town campaign manager, just get an atlas and a voter list from your county courthouse.

I can’t get out of the training video on my iPad. No problem on my Samsung galaxy phone. I really want to use this app on my iPad when I canvas next weekend, April 30 and May 1 2022. Help!

When I open the app it goes to a training video then gets stuck there, no way to get past or go back. Please fix I need this app.

At an organizing meeting about to canvas. Others who have earlier versions have buttons to record voter answers. Mine doesn’t give me check buttons. Not sure if this is a local script creator issue or something with your latest update. Please troubleshoot please and thank you!

Best tool for an organizer, and I’ve been really happy with its functionality so far. However, the new update has removed a lot of functionality and has led me to write a review. My canvass packets are not updating at all if I download a new list and go back to the old one, I cannot see what doors my teammates have already done anymore, and generally I’m experiencing tons of bugs. Please fix or revert to last patch. Also, patch notes says the list starts on Map view but this is incorrect. On the menu it does, but on the main page it is still household view. Clicking the already selected map view fixes this. Please repair your code.

I’ve canvassed using minivan for years and it’s always been a pretty solid program up until the newest update. I can promise you than no canvasser EVER needs a prompt after every single person who is marked inaccessible/refused. It’s tedious, annoying, and it was incredibly EASY to change how you marked someone if you did happen to hit the wrong selection before the update. I’d also like to note that many canvassers have to switch between the app and texts/emails/photos/etc and there is no reason AT ALL to auto direct back to the list screen every time you have to use anything else. Any good canvasser canvasses by the map view. Please know your customers better, my entire team is annoyed by all of this.

It appears to drain memory like crazy and that should be fixed ASAP. Another suggestion: in People, Household and Map views there should be a mode to see/sort locations by the following criteria: if this location has been worked (LD, Going to vote by mail, Moved, etc) or not. This way a user can see right away what locations she hasn’t visited yet.

Filters don’t work, and the app takes you back to the top of the list on EVERY ENTRY. I have an apartment complex list with 1 physical address but 300+ apartments, which means nothing but constant scrolling. I’d give this negative stars if I could. Giant waste of time.

Does not work. Sends you to start at locations nowhere near where you are or were told to start canvassing. Routes are long with large gaps. I would only do this if you have a car, otherwise you will end up walking miles to your route only be be directed somewhere else to actually start working.

Overall good app but the map is not accurate with showing actual address or my location. This was my first time using it for a political campaign. It froze up multiple times after running it continuously for about 2 hours - had to close and restart the app each time it froze.

Did some canvassing using the app, input my voter data and synced. To my dismay, none of my data input was saved! Deleted the app and reinstalled it, without success. What gives? This is really holding me up!

This app is not working on android phones. None of the data is being saved. We can delete the app and download the app again. Update the software on the phone, Power the phone off and back on. This app is not working on android phones.

What’s up with this app? It has such potential for paperless canvassing. However, there is absolutely no way I can find to check off which addresses I’ve been to, making it pretty useless. I see on YouTube tutorials that version 7 had this option - why not this current version (version 8)?

Maybe the app developers have a different definition of what “sync” means than I do. But apparently to them it means lose all your data when you log out of the app with no way to retrieve it. Garbage app.

Since you can’t get list til you’re at the location it would be great to have a mock list for training. Ability to download a mock list onto computer or tablet would also be helpful for team training

This app is easy to use and is a great canvassing tool. My biggest issue is that every time I lock my phone screen the app resets back to my list and I lose my spot where I was planning on my map or have to find the person’s house again very quickly before they open the door because I forgot their names and I have to completely re-navigate the app to get where I was

When using the “optimize my route” option (which you’ll definitely want to, do you can cover addresses efficiently), the app randomly loses the optimized sort order without provocation. If you don’t know this ahead of time, you can wind up walking in circles all day, returning to streets you thought you were finished with, and just basically wasting time and doing a lot of unnecessary walking. You going to have to constantly be on the lookout for the re-appearance of the “optimize my route” button, and push many, many times to maintain an efficient route.

We need it! Its very hard to operate for spanish speaking canvassers and we need them at the doors :)

The app started crashing for me after every report. But even before then, the app wouldn't save state when going into background. This is very frustrating when trying to canvass. The devs should spend more time on stability instead of encouraging progress messages.

1...When I tap on “map”, it shows “list” instead 2...It’s tricky to slide names to the right to indicate “NH”/not home 3...App does not sync. Info entered by canvassers does not show up on other canvassers’ phones

Drains my battery but good. Crashes sometimes. I would love if they added a phonebanking option.

On iOS 13.3, the app loses all its state when locking the screen. I have to leave the app open and my phone unlocked with the screen on for the entire time I’m canvassing, forcing me to carry around a huge power bank to finish a single list. Patch notes claim this is fixed, but it absolutely isn’t.

Usually the app is fine, but for a week now it closes and has to completely restart every time the screen locks for at least 30 seconds. Then you have to re-navigate to the page you were on before the screen locked. It greatly slows down canvassing and drains battery. Please fix this bug!

Extremely difficult to use now because when you shut off your screen, the app restarts and puts you at the top of the list. Only way to stop this is to keep app open, but that drains battery. Needs to be fixed otherwise it’s going to hinder organizers ability

I’m out canvassing this morning, and every time I lock my phone, the app crashes... and because it doesn’t have state-restoration, I have to navigate back to where I was each time. Yikes!
